A Not So Secret Garden ~ Skagit Valley Tulips

by Bonnie Tate

This time last year when we were living in Texas, many people told me to be sure and see the bluebonnets when they came into bloom in the Texas hill country. We did make the drive to see them, but sadly found that we were too late. The bluebonnets had come and gone.

This year, here in western Washington, it's tulips. Skagit Valley, to the north, is famous here for acres of tulip fields. And we got to them on time! Of course flowers are lovely, but I usually don't go overboard taking photos of them. Yesterday, however, the sunlight and endless rows of color simply made me happy, and gave me a taste of spring that was much needed. Enjoy!
