Food for Thought

Two new photographs of good words (click to see larger versions):

Sailed West web

"Day after day on this memorable voyage we find this entry in his log book, "This day we sailed west because it was our course."

In January I wrote about being inspired by an interesting 1917 book called How To Get What You Want. Above is a photo of another one of my favorite passages, about Christopher Columbus.

Iron String web

"Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string."

The words in the photo above are from Emerson's Self Reliance. They resonate with me, and I love the book itself as an object. Weathered and stained, it belonged to my grandfather, and is full of his underlinings and notes.
