After class last night at CityArts Cooperative I noticed the fantastic pattern and color of these glowing Post-its. Thanks to the angle of the setting sun, the office window of sticky notes and their shadows came alive. I couldn’t get enough of them!

What’s for Dinner

I encountered Charlie walking downtown with a camouflage wrapped bundle on his shoulder. I asked what was inside and he began unpacking a pile of scorpion fish and tuna.  He had just returned from days out in the Gulf and he was walking homeward with his share of extras, and some dinner rolls.

What fun! Digital Graffiti, a projection art festival at Alys Beach. Watching visitors wander through the narrow streets in the dark, interact, and become part of the art (intentionally and unintentionally) makes this really fantastic.

 Summer 2015 Photography Classes
by Bonnie Tate @ CityArts Co-op

I’m excited to be teaching these classes this summer…more to come!

June 9 – July 7, 2015
Creative Photography for Beginners   A hands on class for learning about camera operation. Start from scratch and become familiar with your camera’s most important features, and how they translate into the photograph. This course covers ISO, aperture & shutter speed, light metering, focus, focal length and more. Lessons include outdoor practice. Camera required. *Best for DSLRs or camera with “Manual” mode but all cameras welcome!
5 week course, meets Tuesdays evenings, 5-7pm. $150

June 10 – July 8, 2015
The Master’s Eye   Develop your eye and learn some photography history by looking at the masters. Each week a new photographer will be presented and we will discuss how they made their mark with style, lighting, composition and other techniques – and how they achieved the shots from a technical standpoint. Your weekly assignment will be to make your own photograph drawing from their style. An idea generating class that will challenge you! Recommended for those who have a good understanding of their camera. Camera required. 5 week course, meets Wednesday evenings, 5pm – 7pm. $150

June 26 & July 10, 2015 (choose one)  10am – 1pm
Camera-less Photography for Kids   Travel back to the early days of photography when the first pictures were made without cameras! Cyanotypes (also called sunprints) are exposed using sunlight and produce a deep blue print. Kids practice artful composition, see the photographic process in action, develop their images, and take home one of a kind prints. Bring small objects to arrange (feathers, lace, flowers, trinkets). A 3 hour workshop, ages 6-14. $25 per child.

August Evenings, 2015 (Dates TBA)
Night Photography   An exciting niche that comes alive with experimentation and photographic “rule breaking!” Practice the techniques and camera settings that make great nightshots. Try hand-held, long exposures, and painting with light in a variety of local spots. Tripod and camera required. 5 week course, meets one night per week. $150

And a good time was had by all on this beautiful section of the Florida Trail that runs beside Econfina Creek. Especially this young pup Sayde who ran the whole way, back and forth, at least 16 miles.

Dreams in the Dusk

By Carl Sandburg

Dreams in the dusk,
Only dreams closing the day
And with the day’s close going back
To the gray things, the dark things,
The far, deep things of dreamland.

Dreams, only dreams in the dusk,
Only the old remembered pictures
Of lost days when the day’s loss
Wrote in tears the heart’s loss.

Tears and loss and broken dreams
May find your heart at dusk.
